Graduate Collection

Florence’s graduate collection, “New Rules,” was selected for the Academy of Art University’s Spring 2019 Graduate Show. Under the guidance of Gary Miller and Simon Ungless, Florence independently developed and executed the collection from initial concept and design development through fabric sourcing, patternmaking, garment construction, and fittings.

Inspired by her experience with restrictive school uniforms, New Rules challenges traditional dress codes through unconventional tailoring, reimagined uniform silhouettes, and convertible design elements. Drawing inspiration from Russian Constructivist artist Varvara Stepanova, the collection incorporates bold geometric prints and explores the relationship between individuality, functionality, and self-expression.
